E- Evaluate and Revise

Assessment of Learner Achievement
Students took a multiple choice quiz to measure their ability to use context clues to discern word meaning. Some quizzes were graded using the platform USA Test Prep. Some were graded using ZipGrade as I had to print paper copies of the quiz when some classes could not connect their Chromebooks to the internet.
Evaluation of Strategies and Resources
To evaluate the effectiveness of my resources and strategies, I created a Google Slide where I typed each student’s name, his pre-assessment score, and his post-assessment score. Then, I used the formula bar to subtract the pre-assessment score from the post-assessment score. I color-coded scores (red for students who scored lower on the post-assessment, yellow for students who scored the same, and green for students who improved). Finally, I tallied the different colors and created the chart below to view the effectiveness of my lessons on learning.
Revision
I think this could have been a more effective unit if students had actually done less game-based practice. I think my gaming strategies were engaging and that most students learned. However, I should have still had them practice with passage similar to those on their quiz. I. also should have had them find words they didn’t know in their independent novels and use context clues to discern them.
